Fan Tan, sometimes Fann Tan, Fannie Tan or Fann Funn, is also known as bean counting. It is a classic Chinese gambling strategy game based on guessing the number of beans that are in a container. There are some similarities between Fan Tan and Bean counting however it's different in terms of rules of play.

The origin of fan-tan is not clear. Some people say that the game's beginnings can be traced back to Korea and China, while others say it's an American invention. It was created by Chinese gamblers during the latter part of the Qing Dynasty. They were interested in creating gambling games that were more real for them to use. The first game played by Fan Tan, which was recorded in 1912 it was actually a form of counting beans. Fan Tan requires a lot expertise and a strategy. It takes a lot of expertise to determine the hand selection, bean counting and betting strategy.
